New Chapter added to Our Story

1950's Aloha 12' travel trailer we called home

I appended a new chapter to our story. The new chapter is about setting up camp. I began one other about our survival in the woods as well.

Hunting Pictures

Grandma watched Jordan while me and the girlfriend headed up north to do some shopping at nature’s supermarket.  We arrived at 9PM and our camp was setup so quickly we were in bed by 10PM.  5AM my alarm sounded so I woke up and cracked open a Red Bull. I grabbed my rifle, pistol, and tin of snüs, and headed out.  Only walked 50yds from camp when I spotted this Deer.  I didn’t come for a big Buck, I came to put some Venison in the freezer.  It has been too long since my last bite of Venison, and I wasn’t going to waste any time looking for large antlers.  150yds downhill, barely enough light to see her in my scope, but just enough to precisely place one of my hot Elk / Bear rounds through her spinal cord.  I guess that was a bit overkill after observing the exit wound.  But it did the trick.  She was dragged up the mountainside, gutted, skinned, and butchered up in an hour and a half.

The entry wound was smaller than my pinky. This is the exit wound.

Skinned and ready for butchering

Backstrap, the Filet Mignon of Deer. Mmmmmmmm...

Hunting trip pictures

Our Deer scouting trip was a success. We familiarized ourselves with the property and found a couple decent bucks. Still holding out for a bigger one, so I will be going back soon. Best of all, we made some new friends and got away from the city for a while.

Going hunting, be back in a few…

Just stocked up on ammo, cleaned my guns, and am heading up north to go hunting with my son and girlfriend. Won’t be posting for a few days but I’ll have some new iPhone development stuff for you all when I get back so stay tuned!

Planning My 2010 Hunting Trip

Anybody who has spent more than a few minutes talking to me could tell you I am a father first, die hard outdoorsman second, geek third. My passion is big game archery hunting, and Steelhead & Salmon fishing.

After spending the past year settling into a new job, school, and living situation, I have finally decided to take some time for myself enjoying the outdoors and harvesting some game. I have recently acquired hunting rights to a 45 acre property in the heart of California Deer country aka Mendocino County, (more…)

TypoBirds (Cute moment)

So the other morning I was walking Jordan to the car to drop him off at school.  He asks me “Daddy, what was that sound?” and looks around confused.  So I reply “I think that was a bird.”  And to that Jordan smartly says “No, that’s a DUCK!” and I explain to him that Ducks are a type of bird.

We walk a little more and Jordan asks me “Daddy, where do TypoBirds come from?”  “Uh, what?  France I think…”

Sharks Playoff Hockey

Took my Dad to a hockey game for his birthday. We got to see the San Jose Sharks absolutely CRUSH the Colorado Avalanche in this epic Stanley Cup Playoff Game.

Sharks: 5
Avalanche: 0

Happy Easter

Had a great Easter following a great Birthday.  Here is a picture of Jordan enjoying his Easter basket.

Toys for sick Jordan

Jordan woke up vomiting all over his bed so after a 5:30AM bath and a load of laundry, we went to get some new toys to cheer him up. We picked up this beast and have been playing with it all day!
