Anybody who has spent more than a few minutes talking to me could tell you I am a father first, die hard outdoorsman second, geek third. My passion is big game archery hunting, and Steelhead & Salmon fishing.
After spending the past year settling into a new job, school, and living situation, I have finally decided to take some time for myself enjoying the outdoors and harvesting some game. I have recently acquired hunting rights to a 45 acre property in the heart of California Deer country aka Mendocino County, and decided to acquire some new toys too. Although I primarily hunt with a bow and arrow, my red neck prevents me from leaving my firearms at home. You never know when you may need to drop that monster Elk or Deer of a lifetime at 300yds.
I just picked up this bipod by Harris Engineering for my rifle. The rifle is a Ruger M77 .30-06 and the install of the bipod took about 60 seconds. This is the result:
Word from the landowner is that a Mountain Lion is living on the hill above his property. My run-ins with Cougars has not ended well in the past as you can see in the third picture on my photos page. To be safe, along with all the basic camping and hunting gear, I am bringing “The Tank,” my anti-cougar firearm. My Ruger P97 .45ACP Semi-Auto.
I’m excited as hell, and it looks like my girlfriend will be coming along with my son. Going to be great. I’ll be sure to post pictures of our trip when we get back!
